Getting Started

Q:1 How much does the program cost?

Individual Rates

Online Courses currently cost $7 for each 1.5 hour course, and $6 for each 1.0 hour course. We also offer unlimited access subscriptions for one year for $65 or two years for $105.Jems Magazine Print CE Tests are $10 each.

Q:2 I’m having trouble logging in. My email address and password keeps getting rejected.

Make sure you are using the same email address and password you used when you registered. if you are still having problems, check your internet options and make sure your privacy settings are “medium high” or below. You can change your privacy settings back after your session. If you are still having problems, click on help above.

Q:3 How do I enroll?

Enrolling on JEMSprepare is easy. First make sure you have a current email account. You will also need to have your current contact and EMT license information on hand. Then, simply click the registration link and complete the registration and license information forms. Once enrolled, you may purchase individual courses, a package of courses, or annual subscriptions for unlimited access to all course content. Payment by credit card is easy and safe via our secure e-commerce server.

Q:3 How do I earn CE units?

Earning CEs from the great courses on JEMSprepare is easy. First, choose and purchase an individual course or annual subscription. Next, launch your course, read the material, take and pass the test, and then print out your course completion certificate.

Q:1 I’m interested in JEMSprepare. Can I view the course catalog without enrolling?

You can view the course catalog and individual course summary descriptions without registering. You are required to provide basic registration information to purchase and take a course.

Q:2 I’m a California EMT. How do I contact a course instructor?

To contact an instructor, after you login, select the contact instructor link on your myHome page. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response. EMTs in other states should email jems-support@mcstrategies.com with questions.

Q:3 Are JEMSprepare courses applicable to all levels of certification?

JEMSprepare offers courses accredited by CECBEMs for all certification levels: First Responders, BLS and ALS providers. When looking through the Course Catalog, click on an individual course to see the Course Detail page. There will be a box that lists the number of CE credits for which that course is valid for each level of certification. Check this box before purchasing the course to ensure you will earn CE credit. (You can purchase and take any course, but will not receive credit if the course is not approved for your certification level.)To see the total number of courses and CE hours that are currently offered for each level of certification, look at the box at the top right corner of the JEMSprepare home page.

Q:4 Who is CECBEMS?

CECBEMS stands for Continuing Education Board for Emergency Medical Services. It is the national accreditation body for EMS CE programs. All JEMSprepare.com courses are accredited by CECBEMS for the appropriate certification level. Per CECBEMS requirements, the following copy will be printed on all JEMSprepare.com course completion certificates:”This continuing education activity is approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services.”

Q:5 Where can I find more quality CE content from MosbyJems?

Q:6 Can I print out courses to read at a later time and then come back to take the exam?

No. JEMSprepare is designed so that users can take CE on the internet, courses are not currently available offline.

Q:7 My state requires me to have a specific number of hours in different categories. How can I tell what course goes in what category?

The course catalog is broken into the seven topic categories that meet NREMT refresher requirements Within each topic list you may click on the link for any individual course to read a brief course description and the course objectives to match with the unique category requirements of your state.

License Questions

Q:1 What do I need for certification renewal?

State requirements vary and periodically change. Check with your state EMS office to ensure you know the recertification requirments for your specific license. Most states have a web site that will provide you a current list of recertification requirements. Click here for a list of these offices with links to web sites, email addresses, and telephone numbers.I’m not sure what license type I have, how many CE credits do I need and when? I’m not sure if online CE is accepted in my state. Where do I go to find this information? Since state requirements vary, please check with your state EMS office. Q:2 How do I contact my state EMS office?

Click here for a list of all state EMS offices. Due to the possibility that state regulations may change, we have listed state and U.S. territory EMS office contact information. We recommend that you verify acceptance of online EMS continuing education in your locale. All JEMSprepare.com courses are approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS).

Q:3 Are JEMSprepare CE units accepted by the National Registry of EMTs?

The National Registry of EMTs currently accepts half your CE hours and 10 refresher hours from magazine CE articles, computer, videos or other distributive (i.e., distance learning) education programs. EMT-B and EMT-I can receive credit for up to 18 hours of their required 36 CEU via distributive programs. EMT-P can fulfill 12 of their required 24 CEU via such programs. EMTs and paramedics at any level may also use such programs for up to 10 hours of their refresher courses. The National Registry requires CECBEMS-approved courses. Q:4 Are JEMSprepare courses applicable for continuing education in Canada and other countries?

Currently JEMSprepare is applicable for EMS CE for United States licenses that accept CECBEMS accredited content. Please check with the EMS office in your country to determine whether CECBEMS accredited CE is accepted for your license.

Q:5 I don’t want to provide my EMT license information via the Internet. What do I do?

Entry of your license information is required by our accrediting agency, and it ensures that certificates for completed CEs include your license information.

Technical Questions

Q:1 I’m having difficulty accessing some courses and tests. I keep getting the same pages. What should I do?

The system is designed to track your activity in each course and saves a variety of temporary files on your computer to accomplish this task. This system ensures, for example, we provide the correct test for the course you are taking. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to periodically restart your browser and re-login to JEMSprepare to refresh your temporary file cache. You may also want to increase the size of your temp file cache in your browser preference (at the top of your browser, click on ‘Tools>Internet Options>Temporary Internet Files’).

Q:2 What do I do if I am unable to finish a course or test?

If you purchase individual courses, the system is designed to save all courses in progress until you have completed and submitted your test for grading. If you are unable to finish a course or test for any reason, you may resume the course once you have logged in again by clicking on the unfinished course using the link in your myCourses page. Individually purchased courses are valid for 30 days from purchase. If you have purchased an unlimited one or two year subscription, you may re-launch any course as many times as you desire during your subscription period.

Q:I don’t have a credit card but I would like to use JEMSprepare. Can I write a check, send cash or a money order or be invoiced?

To maintain low overhead costs and keep course prices low, JEMSprepare only accepts payment via valid credit card.

Q:2 I have recently upgraded my browser to Internet Explorer 7.0 and I’m no longer able to access Jemsprepare.

EMS Today Questions

Q:1 I attendedEMS Today, how do I print my Certificate of Completion?

To access your certificate from the EMS Today Conference login using your EMS Today conference registration number as both your login Id and password. Do not include leading zero’s from your registration number. For example, if your number is 00012, only enter 12. If you do not have or have misplaced your EMS Today registration number, please email jems-support@mcstrategies.com for assistance.

Q:2 I am having trouble printing my EMS Today Certificate of Completion, what can I do?

Instead of clicking on the Print Certificate link, right-click on the certificate and select Print from the drop-down menu that appears. Then change the page orientation to Landscape so that your certificate prints correctly.
